Ending Punitive Disciplinary Practices

We oppose disciplinary policies and practices that directly or indirectly push students out of classrooms and into the juvenile and criminal justice systems. Too often, efforts aimed at addressing truancy, disruptive behavior, and poor student performance result in the passage of disciplinary measures that impose automatic and severe consequences for students and their families. The Center works to educate legislators and policymakers about the negative effects of these policies.
