505-255-2840

Nicolas Cordova is the Legal Director at NMCLP, where he guides a holistic legal strategy that advances social and economic justice through community-driven litigation and advocacy. Nicolas previously served as the Center’s Healthcare Director, where he worked with community partners and policymakers to advance major healthcare reforms—from securing sustainable funding to lower families’ insurance costs, to improving equitable access to state and local health programs for immigrant families, and strengthening safeguards against predatory medical debt collection. This policy work laid the foundation for later enforcement efforts by NMCLP, including a class action lawsuit that successfully upheld critical protections for patients facing harmful debt collection practices. Before returning to the Center, Nicolas served as an Assistant Attorney General in the New Mexico Department of Justice’s Consumer Protection Bureau, where he worked on civil enforcement actions and consumer-focused litigation. He also clerked for the Honorable Julie J. Vargas on the New Mexico Court of Appeals.
