NEW MEXICO SAYS YES TO MEDICAID EXPANSION, MAKING OVER 170,000 LOW-INCOME NEW MEXICANS ELIGIBLE FOR HEALTHCARE COVERAGE
On January 9, Governor Susana Martinez announced that New Mexico will expand Medicaid eligibility for low-income adults beginning in 2014. The decision will make over 170,000 low-income adults eligible for healthcare coverage. This is an historic decision for New Mexico, and creates a whole new world for access to healthcare in our state. For the first time ever, the amount of money you make does not determine whether you have healthcare insurance.
